Could you describe your career journey so far and your key responsibilities at Epiq?
I began my career as a data entry specialist at DST Systems. After nine months, I shifted to the HR technology team, where I played a crucial role in upgrading PeopleSoft HR. This upgrade significantly assisted HR clients in managing benefits, payroll, and promotion tasks. As time passed, I progressed in my role and responsibilities, eventually becoming involved in a significant implementation of PeopleSoft to Workday.
Having dedicated 15 years to DST Systems, I joined Epiq as the Senior HR Technology Analyst. Over time, I have advanced to the position of Director of HR Technology and Operations, where I now oversee HR Service Delivery and the HR technology applications utilized by the company. My primary focus is forecasting the roadmap and ensuring our systems are up-to-date with the latest advancements and updates.
I have remained passionate about HR Technology throughout my career and am committed to staying at the forefront of the industry's developments. I aim to continue driving success and efficiency in HR processes by providing the best solutions for our company and its employees.
Please shed light on the pain points prevailing in the HR space.
In my role, I am dedicated to continuously improving my clients' day-to-day tasks within the system, making them more accessible and efficient. My main focus is on automating processes and streamlining workflows, empowering my clients to become strategic partners to their businesses without being burdened by technology frustrations or manual work. Throughout my interactions with clients, I have encountered numerous challenges in handling their complex requirements for new policies, processes, and system features. Nevertheless, I find immense satisfaction in tackling these complexities and devising solutions that minimize the need for tasks outside the system.
“My main focus is on automating processes and streamlining workflows, empowering my clients to become strategic partners to their businesses without being burdened by technology frustrations or manual work."
My ultimate goal is to proactively anticipate my client's needs and offer innovative solutions before they ask for them. By staying ahead of the curve and constantly seeking ways to enhance the HR technology experience, I strive to provide exceptional support to our clients and help them achieve their objectives more effectively.
Could you elaborate on the specific methods employed to implement and sustain HR technology solutions within the organization?
Workday has significant releases twice a year. Before each release, we thoroughly examine the new features and assist employees with the new processes to navigate the necessary change management. We assess additional functionalities provided by the update and help clients turn them on when required. Consequently, we maintain a backlog of client requests and abide by a well-planned roadmap for improving their systems.
Is there a recent project or initiative you have been working on?
One of my focuses this year is working with Talent Acquisition to optimize the recruiting function in Workday. As part of this effort, we have engaged with Workday to conduct a review of our system configuration and recommend enhancements. We also prioritized simplifying business processes and improving integrations with background check vendors. Additionally, we have been implementing the Workday Docs featurefor creating international offer letters and streamlining the candidate experience.
Furthermore, we have an ongoing initiative to expand time tracking to more international countries, enhancing our workforce management capabilities and ensuring compliance across various regions.
In your experience, what will be your advice to your fellow peers in the industry?
We must remain proactive and welcome new ideas. Before implementing a new approach or technology, we should know its pros and cons to enable clients to make informed decisions. I advocate providing clients with various options to ensure they select the best solution for the entire company rather than just meeting immediate requirements.
